Tim Sherwood believes Manchester United need Harry Kane
According to Premier League pundit Tim Sherwood (h/t Express), Manchester United need to sign an out-and-out centre-forward and should prioritize signing Harry Kane, who has been linked with Manchester City.
Manchester United, who have already completed the signing of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for a combined fee of above £100million, have been urged to sign a centre-forward by former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.
He told Premier League productions (h/t The Express):
“I still think they need a centre-forward, I really do. Jadon Sancho, we haven’t seen him, he came off the bench. They’ve got a lot of good players in a lot of areas.
“But I think Cavani is their best No 9 and a player who is aging like that, they’re desperate for Harry Kane. They’re desperate for him. If they have Harry Kane, for me they are up there with Man City and Chelsea to win the Premier League.
Sherwood also went on to claim that United ‘will not be able to win the league title’ without a centre-forward like Harry Kane.
The Red Devils, who already have the likes of Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford in their frontline, have been linked with the likes of Erling Haaland and Antoine Griezmann this summer, but neither move has panned out.
Kane could be a possible option for the Red Devils, but Spurs have been adamant about not letting the player leave amid strong interest from Manchester City while it would also take north of £100million to sign the English international. (h/t Daily Mail)
Moreover, the club are currently focusing on tying down Paul Pogba to a new contract as the Frenchman could walk out of the club on a free transfer next summer. Additionally, the club are also interested in providing some cover to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back slot, courtesy of which, they have been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.

Thus, a move for Kane seems unlikely, especially since the deadline to complete transfers will be over by the 31st of August.
