Transfer News: Ander Herrera return to Manchester United from PSG unlikely
According to a tweet by reliable Manchester United news source Jonathan Shrager (h/t Yardbarker), the Red Devils are doing nothing as of now to ensure a return for Ander Herrera from PSG.
A report by The Guardian (h/t Yardbarker) mentioned that Ander Herrera, Idrissa Gueye, and Mauro Icardi are three players that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sell after signing Lionel Messi.
The Argentine star has raised the Ligue 1 side’s wage bill by a big margin and they now want to trim it going into the new season. But Shrager has dismissed claims that United will bring back the 31-year-old midfielder to Old Trafford.

“In terms of today’s report which proposed a possible return to United for Ander Herrera, I am told that there is currently nothing in it”
Herrera links quashed
Herrera left United to join PSG two years ago. Before that, he enjoyed a decent 5-year-long spell under managers such as Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
A sporadic starter for the Ligue 1 team and turning 32 this weekend, fans wouldn’t mind if the Red Devils don’t work aggressively towards bringing him back to Manchester United. Frankly, the club has better options in midfield.

If at all Solskjaer wants to hand any other midfielder more playing time, Donny van de Beek would be first in line. His high-profile transfer from Ajax last year hasn’t really worked out well for him on an individual level.

Moreover, the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, and Fred will likely keep Herrera out of the starting XI for the majority of the time even if such a return does happen.
