No bad blood between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Paul Pogba at Manchester United despite contract situation

According to Daily Mirror (h/t Express), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to continue with Paul Pogba as his main man in midfield despite the 28-year-old superstar’s contract situation at Manchester United.

The French international has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. But Lionel Messi’s signature has put off any potential move for Pogba to Parc des Princes, at least for now. (h/t Express)

However, Pogba is not close to renewing his stay at Old Trafford. His current contract expires in the summer of 2022, which means United risk losing him as a free agent next year.

That is, of course, if he chooses to stay without extending his deal this season. For any club, let alone United, losing your club-record signing on a free transfer is nothing short of a nightmare scenario.

Pogba to stay?

United shelled out a cool £89million for him back in 2016 during Jose Mourinho’s reign. PSG, on the other hand, are building nothing short of a dream team of players that include the likes of Sergio Ramos, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.

And the former Juventus man can be another free signing they make next summer, according to the report. But the possibility of this happening hasn’t put off Solskjaer from using Pogba in an important role in the coming season.

The French midfielder will remain at the ‘forefront‘ of Ole’s plans at Old Trafford this season. That, in all honesty, might be the only option United are left with and the only option that sets them up for a title challenge.

Winning the Premier League or UEFA Champions League is not easy and the club will require its best players to achieve that. If Pogba will ultimately depart, and there is nothing United can do about it, then their best bet is to use him for another season and hope he helps them end their trophy drought.
