Manchester United are not keen on selling Anthony Martial this summer

According to The Telegraph (h/t Express), Manchester United are not interested in letting go of Anthony Martial this summer despite new additions.

The Frenchman was linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer as the Italian giants looked to replace former Manchester United player Romelu Lukaku. But it does not like the Old Trafford outfit are keen on letting go of Martial.

The Red Devils completed the £73million signing of long-term target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer to bolster their attacking options. However, this does not play any role in United letting go of Martial, as per the report

Solskjaer does not want the 25-year-old to depart the club this summer as the Norwegian feels his team will be short in attacking options, especially after it was confirmed that Marcus Rashford will be sidelined with an injury until October at the earliest. Moreover, Edinson Cavani is also set to miss the start of the season as he is yet to arrive to training, due to his Copa America campaign during the summer.

Solskjaer wants a ‘big squad’ to help him manage through any absences or fatigues his players might go through due to the Covid-19 pandemic while injuries are also a worry for the Norwegian.

Although Martial did score 23 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils in the 2019/20 season, his form fell off a cliff last season as he managed to score only 7 goals in all competitions, post-which, a knee injury also kept him until the end of the season, including United’s Europa League final with Villarreal. However, the 25-year-old has recovered from his injury, and also featured in the club’s last pre-season friendly against Everton.

Thus, it seems like Martial will stay put at Old Trafford as Solskjaer looks to challenge for the biggest titles again this season.
