Transfer News: Manchester United have been tipped to another signing this summer

According to transfer news from Manchester Evening News (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United have been tipped to complete a ‘third significant’ summer signing before the end of the transfer window on the 31st of August.

The Red Devils have already completed the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, while French international Raphael Varane also looks set to complete his £42million move to United from Real Madrid.

United have been on the lookout for a central midfielder this summer with the club targeting Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga, Wolves’ Ruben Neves, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, and Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka.

This interest has stemmed because of the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba, who is in the final year of his contract and is subject to interest from French giants Paris Saint Germain.

Apart from a midfielder, United have also been interested in signing a centre-forward, with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland one of the names on United’s priority list.

However, the Norwegian’s £150million price tag this summer has put off most clubs that have been interested in signing the player, including Premier League rivals Chelsea. The forward, however, due to a clause in his contract, will be available for €75million next summer, and United would be hoping to sign the player next summer, if not in the current window.

Lastly, the Red Devils are also keen on signing a backup for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, courtesy of which, the club are trying to complete a move for Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid. However, according to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), United are only willing to pay £20million for the player, which is nowhere near Atletico’s £34million valuation of the player.

Thus, while Manchester United may still complete a third significant signing, it remains to be seen who the club will sign in the last three weeks of the summer transfer window.
