Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho are set to undergo Manchester United fitness programme
According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that both Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho are set to undergo fitness programs soon.
The Red Devils completed the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho earlier this summer, while Raphael Varane is also set to complete his £42million move in the coming week.
Thus, both players had to view United’s 4-0 thrashing of Everton in their last pre-season friendly from their respective homes, especially Varane, who is isolating with his family as per the quarantine rules and regulations. Sancho, in turn, is set to report to training with United on Monday.
However, with the Red Devils set to host Leeds United for their 2021/22 Premier League season opener, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on the fitness of both Sancho and Varane. Solskjaer said (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“The medical with Raphael has to be done. Jadon is in for Monday, and hopefully, he’ll be in decent nick and can be involved. Some started July 5, some trained with us for the first time this week, of course, Jadon is next week and Raphael hopefully when the medical is sorted, he’ll be a few days with us.
However, Solskjaer reiterated that the pair needs to go through a fitness programme before starting or being selected in the squad for any game.
“But we have to get them through a fitness regime and programme. We can’t just throw them into a game”.

Solskjaer had also confirmed earlier that both Varane and Sancho are set to be on the bench for the game against Leeds United. Thus, with both players nearing first-team training, it might not be long before the duo don the famous red jersey and step out on the pitch as Manchester United players.
