Transfer News: Manchester United ready to sell Axel Tuanzebe with Aston Villa keen
According to transfer news from The Telegraph, Aston Villa are lining up a swoop on Manchester United for the permanent signing of defender Axel Tuanzebe. The Red Devils are open to offers for the 23-year-old.
Tuanzebe came through the youth ranks at Manchester United and was tipped for a bright future when he made his first-team bow in 2017. However, injuries and the intense competition for places has meant that the defender has found it hard to carve out a place for himself at Old Trafford.
Tuanzebe has had a couple of loan spells away from Manchester United – both at Aston Villa – the first in the second half of the 2017/18 season and the second coming for the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign, during which he helped Dean Smith’s side to promotion.
However, since then he has been at United but has found game-time hard to come by. With the 20-time English champions also set to sign Raphael Varane imminently, Tuanzebe will fall further down the pecking order at Old Trafford. And, with his contract up in less than a year, Manchester United are now open to offers, the report claims.
Newcastle United have been interested in Tuanzebe, but only on a loan deal, while the fee for such a deal is also proving to be a problem for the Magpies. And, Villa could make the most of the situation, with Smith now chasing the defender’s signing, on a permanent transfer. (h/t The Telegraph)

A player with immense potential, Tuanzebe has fallen victim to the circumstances at United. Niggling injuries, intense competition have contributed towards him not being able to get playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And while the report claims that the club are ready to cash in on him, it remains to be seen if that is indeed the case or United are just looking to loan out the 23-year-old.
