Manchester United see Saul Niguez as a huge opportunity in the market
Speaking to The United Stand (h/t Express), reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United see Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez as ‘one of the biggest opportunities’ on the market and want to sign him.
Saul has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for Atleti for a good part of the last five-six years. However, the midfielder dropped down the pecking order last season and has since been heavily linked with an exit, with Manchester United emerging as one of his ardent suitors.
And, Romano has now claimed that the Red Devils see him as a major opportunity that they would not want to miss out on, insisting that talks with the Spanish international’s agents have been held. However, the Italian journalist also claimed that a bid was yet to be made by the 20-time English champions for Saul.
“Manchester United are among the clubs that have been in contact with Saúl Niguez’s agent – they have an interest in the player and consider him ‘one of the biggest opportunities on the market’. €40-45m will get a deal done, no bid yet.”
Paul Pogba is in the final year of his new contract and so far, there have been no indications that he is willing to sign a new deal. While Donny van de Beek looks ready to make an impact, the fact that Nemanja Matic is also in the final leg of his career means Manchester United could do with adding another central midfielder this summer.

Saul, to that end, would be a top addition. The 26-year-old has loads of experience at the highest level and has his best years still in front of him. Able to perform multiple roles in the middle of the park, the Spaniard would also improve the squad dynamics for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
