Manchester United will have to wait to announce the signing of Raphael Varane after Frenchman faces visa troubles
According to the Telegraph (h/t Mirror), Raphael Varane will have to wait for some time time before being annnounced as a Manchester United player after he encountered visa problems.
This comes after the Red Devils agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the French international. Varane had already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, and the player will now join the club in a deal which will rise to £43million with add-ons.
Manchester United were in the hunt to sign a central defender this summer, and the club have bagged an absolute quality player in Varane. The Frenchman is expected to partner Harry Maguire in the defence this season, however, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have liked the player to have a pre-season with the entire squad before going into the new campaign.
But as it stands, Varane is yet to leave for United, after which he will have to be quarantined, before he completes his medical and signs for the club.
Thus, official confirmation of the player being signed by the club will take at least another week, something that would not be Solskjaer’s ideal situation.
The club are set to commence their Premier League campaign against Leeds United on the 14th of August, and it remains to be seen whether Varane will be available for that game.

However, apart from the delay, United would be pleased with this signing, given what Varane will be bringing with him. The Frenchman is a serial winner, evidenced by his 4 Champions League victories, 3 La Liga titles, 3 European Super Cups, 1 Spanish Super Cup,1 Copa del Rey, and the 2018 World Cup.
Varane, however, is not the most expensive signing this summer for United as the club also wrapped up a deal for long-term target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to compete on all fronts this season.
