Transfer News: Manchester United monitoring Harry Kane situation
According to transfer news from ESPN (h/t Express), Manchester United are keeping tabs on Harry Kane after he failed to report for training. The Spurs forward was set to return to training for his club on Monday but has not turned up. Reasons for the same are not clear but it could be to force a move away from the club.
The 28-year-old Kane has been a consistent performer for Spurs as well as England over the years, racking up goals and assists at a rapid rate. However, his individual brilliance has failed to land him a single major trophy so far in North London. Kane had apparently spoken about his desire to join a club that can contend for major trophies.
That led to both Manchester clubs registering an interest in the star striker. Last season, he managed to pick up both awards for the highest goalscorer and assist provider, highlighting his tremendous abilities. Kane feels that he has an agreement with Daniel Levy which will allow him to leave.
Now, in a serious bit of development over Kane’s future, he has failed to report for preseason training with Spurs. The forward was set to return after his post-Euros holiday and join the club’s preparations. With Kane not returning, it is believed that it is because he wants to force a move away. City were understood to be the frontrunners for his signature but now United are also keeping their eye on these developments.

It’s unlikely that United get drawn into a transfer battle for Kane. The club already has Cavani for another season and more options in the number 9 spot with Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. While it leaves City free to go after him, United can do little in this regard after already splurging in the market with Sancho and Varane.
