Romano: Manchester United not considering a move for Jerome Boateng
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are not looking to move for Jerome Boateng. The defender was said to be keen on a move to United but for now, he will take his time to decide on his next move. However, Romano cleared that the free agent will not be joining PSV Eindhoven or Hertha Berlin.
It has been a long time since Manchester United boasted of such depth and quality in central defence. The addition of Raphael Varane means that Harry Maguire now has an able partner in the heart of the backline. The duo is expected to be the club’s first-choice pairing when available. Moreover, United have two equally capable defenders in Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to cover for them in case of injury.
Former Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng was earlier said to be keen on a move to United. He is currently a free agent after his deal at Bayern expired this season. Apparently, Boateng was interested in moving to a club in the Champions League and United was his ‘dream move’.
Nonetheless, Romano claimed that Manchester United are not considering a move for Boateng. The 32-year-old is in no rush to decide on his next move but he is not signing for PSV or Hertha Berlin. He will decide it over the coming days.

The free-agent status of Boateng did make him an appealing option for United. There is also his experience of winning a plethora of trophies but the fact remains that he is 32 years of age and not exactly safe from injuries. Perhaps United have made the correct decision in not considering a move.
