Manchester United get Luke Shaw boost for season opener

According to Metro, Luke Shaw has handed Manchester United a boost for their season opener. The England star has assured his fitness ahead of his team’s Premier League opener against Leeds United. The player was initially allowed an extended break to recuperate.

The 26-year-old just capped off his best season in a red shirt. It took a lot of work and some competition from Alex Telles for him to play at his best. Shaw was clearly among the standout performers in the Premier League and was recalled into the England side on the basis of those performances.

Despite England losing the Euro 2020 final, Shaw can take heart from the fact that he played his part to perfection. It was revealed that Shaw played through broken ribs in the last three games of the tournament. Due to that, it was expected that he will be on the sidelines for a while and maybe miss the season opener.

United were hit with another problem when Alex Telles suffered an injury and was ruled out for a couple of weeks. Now, it would seem Shaw has come to United’s aid again. He is confident of returning for the Leeds game on 14th August, which will allow him to have a couple of days of training.

It’s admirable that Shaw wants to put himself back out there as soon as possible but United have to be careful. They cannot afford to rush him in and aggravate the injury. But with Brandon Willams as the only other option, United might just have their hands tied here.
