Transfer News: Paul Pogba to be paid by Manchester United even if he secures a move this summer
According to an exclusive report by Mirror, Manchester United would have to part ways with around £15million even if Paul Pogba secures a transfer away from Old Trafford this summer.
The midfielder is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, with no extension confirmed yet. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not given up hopes of tying down the 28-year-old France international to a new contract.
Amidst this, Pogba has appeared on the radar of Ligue 1 behemoths, Paris Saint-Germain. United want £60million for their midfielder, but PSG believe they can land him for lesser considering his contract situation.
But in any case, if the former Juventus man, who cost £89million four years back, does get a move away this summer, his current club would have to ‘sweeten the deal’ by paying his wages for the last 12 months of his United contract.
This is due to the club triggering the option to extend his deal by a year last October. His agent, Mino Raiola, will likely play a major role in anything that happens regarding Pogba’s future. (h/t Mirror)
Pogba saga goes on
United seem to be in a tough situation regarding the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. Even if they do sell Pogba, they would have to dish out a heavy sum.
But that is still better than losing him on a free transfer and making a big loss on the fee we paid for him all those years back. On paper, the Red Devils have a decent array of midfielders.
