Tahith Chong absence for Manchester United vs QPR explained
According to MEN, Tahith Chong was seen missing from the Manchester United squad vs QPR. The youngster has left for Birmingham City and linked up with their side to start his season-long loan spell. Hence, he will play no further part for United during their pre-season games.
Fierce competition for places at United has seen the youngster seek playing time elsewhere to continue his development. Chong returned from his loan spell at Club Brugge and was a part of the pre-season squad that started training for the season.
However, he is set to join Birmingham on a season-long loan. With opportunities at a premium at Old Trafford, a move to the lower leagues could prove beneficial. Chong was handed a start for United in their opening pre-season game against Derby County. He got the season underway with a well-taken goal.
Chong was expected to feature more during the pre-season but it would seem he has already linked up with Birmingham City. It could be attributed to the fact that Daniel James has returned and a host of other senior players are set to return over the weekend.

The 21-year-old winger currently has one year remaining on his contract. United however have the option of extending it by another year. It is fair to say that he has failed to live up to his potential at United. Having lost his way somewhat, it remains to be seen if the move to Birmingham can help rekindle the flame.
