Alphonso Davies compares himself to Manchester United star Luke Shaw
According to MEN, Alphonso Davies admitted that he still has a long way to match up to Manchester United star Luke Shaw. The Bayern Munich defender was answering questions on social media and that is when Shaw’s name came up.
The 25-year-old just capped off his best season in a red shirt. It took a lot of work and some competition from Alex Telles to produce the best in him. Shaw was clearly among the standout performers in the Premier League and was recalled into the England side on the basis of those performances.
Despite England losing the Euro 2020 final, Shaw can take heart from the fact that he played his part to perfection.
Davies is another name that is starting to make his mark in Shaw’s left-back position at Bayern. The youngster has already won the treble with Bayern last year. Fielding questions from fans on social media, Davies spoke about how the likes of Shaw were better than him.
“I just saw one that was like ‘Luke Shaw is clear’. What does that mean? Someone explain to me. I never really understood that – clear of what? ’That means he’s better’. Ohhh! Ohh, OK, I get it now, it means he’s better. Yeah, I mean, he is, he’s a really good player! Alright, so every time you say like ‘Luke Shaw is clear, Robbo [Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson] is clear, that means he’s better’. OK, makes sense, makes sense.”

Given the season Shaw just had, hardly anyone would disapprove of that. The Englishman played his heart out. Davies has electric pace much like Shaw and both like to bomb forward. He too is a huge talent and can reach great levels if he keeps playing as he does.
