Transfer News: Manchester United ready to cash in on Andreas Pereira but a loan deal appears more likely
According to transfer news from Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are ready to part ways with Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira this summer.
The 25-year-old is out of favour at the club and has hardly featured under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He spent the last season on loan at Lazio, making 33 appearances for the Italian giants. His performances, however, were nothing to write home about and did little to enhance his reputation.
Pereira has shown little to suggest that he has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford. United, for their part, recognise that and are keen to cash in should a suitable offer comes in.
According to the report, United are aware that another loan deal represents the best opportunity to let the player move on this summer. Pereira has already enjoyed three different loan spells since joining United in 2014. The stints at Granada and Valencia in 2016/17 and 2017/18 drew some interest but he has failed to build upon it since.
Whether it be at United or elsewhere, it can be argued that Pereira faces a pivotal season that could shape his career in the years to come. The midfielder was part of the United side that took on Derby County in their first pre-season game this summer.
Despite his indifferent run of form, Lazio remains keen to retain the player’s services. United, however, are in no mood to give them a discount and are seeking £23m for the player’s services. It remains to be seen if the Italians will cough up the money or instead push for a successive loan spell.
Pereira is aware that there will be few opportunities for him at Old Trafford and is keen to make a permanent switch elsewhere. It is fair to say that he has now gone as far as he could at United. Still just 25, he still has time to make a name for himself elsewhere. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Having joined from PSV Eindhoven in 2014, Pereira has so far failed to build upon the initial promise he showed at the club. Winner of the Denzel Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year in 2015, he has failed to improve since. It is fair to say that his time at the Theatre of Dreams is coming to a rather unceremonious end.
