Derby County remain keen on Manchester United starlet Teden Mengi
According to Derbyshire Live, Derby County remain keen on bringing back Teden Mengi on loan from Manchester United. With a transfer embargo still on the Rams, they can only go for free agents and loan deals. Hence, they are hoping to get back the United defender this season.
One of United’s highest-rated youngsters, Mengi is held in high regard at United. He joined Derby back in February. Currently managed by United legend Wayne Rooney, the Championship side are keen to rebuild their side. They have been hit by a transfer embargo due to some internal problems.
Until that embargo is lifted, Derby have been restricted to signing players only on loan or for free. Any new player can only be signed for a year, while loan signings cannot exceed more than half a season. That has led Derby to look at Mengi who could be allowed by Manchester United to leave on loan.
The talented defender played nine times for Wayne Rooney’s side last season. A versatile defender, Mengi can play anywhere across the backline. While he may be training with United currently, Mengi could be allowed to leave the club later in the month when the senior players return.

It does look like a better decision to send him back to Derby and letting him develop. United already have a few names in defence and Mengi would not get much game time. As long as he receives enough game time, the deal will see everyone benefit. Hopefully, he will return to United as a better player.
