Transfer News: Manchester United complete two more steps in deal for Raphael Varane
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have agreed on two important factors to sign Raphael Varane. United are said to be okay to pay the wages Varane is demanding and the fee for him is also not a huge issue.
United’s interest in the Real Madrid defender goes way back to 2011 when Sir Alex was in charge. Varane was then at Lens and was touted to move to a bigger club. Nonetheless, United missed out on his signing and he has gone on to represent Real Madrid for a decade.
Ten years down the line United have been handed the opportunity to sign Varane again but this time there is more optimism. He is in the last year of his deal at Real and could be sold to avoid a free transfer next season.
For United, Varane represents the perfect signing in defence to partner Maguire and shore up the defence. Now, there are two important points United have agreed to that will help the transfer proceed. Firstly, there are his wage demands of £10million per season that United have no issues fulfilling.
Secondly, the transfer fee is said to be not much of a problem as Real are in no position to demand the £80million they wanted initially. Sources close to this deal are confident that this will go through and they will be rather ‘amazed’ if not.
