How Can Man United Fans Get Ready for the New Season?

published :

While watching Harry, Luke and Marcus making history in the Euros will keep you happy for a while, eventually your thoughts are going to turn to the new season. Fans will be back in force in August, so this coming season is going to feel more like the ones you remember.

With the chance to build on last season and progress further in the Champions League, you couldn’t be blamed if you were counting the days until the curtain-raiser against Everton. In the four weeks until then, though, here are some ways you can get ready to make the 21/22 season:

#1 Watch for transfer targets

Even when the headlines are being taken by England players, there is the inevitable rumour mill churning out story after story. Already Declan Rice has been touted to be on his way (give or take the odd £100M or so) from West Ham. And there is what seems like the yearly story about signing Harry Kane.

With the Euros taking most of the summer break, it is unlikely that Ole will do his business early. It might be hard for United to do anything in secret. However, keeping an eye out for transfers that happen ‘under the radar’ could be fun. Compared to the normal fanfare that accompanies every signing.

#2 Rewatch iconic matches

Happily, there is no shortage of these. Obviously, there is a certain night at the Nou Camp, an FA Cup semi-final that you could remind any Arsenal fans you know about  – or even that night in Moscow in 2008. You could look back at the landmark performances of classic players from Keane, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy. Or a little more recently Cristiano Ronaldo. (Though, of course, Utd’s history goes back much further than that)

#3 Add an extra layer of enjoyment

As a diehard United fan, you probably know more about how a match is going to turn out than most people. It won’t be for everybody. But many football fans add an extra layer of excitement to match day by checking out the odds of United winning.

You may (or may not) agree with non-fans assessments for what is going to happen. Either with the overall result or other areas like the number of goals scored or even the amount of yellow cards.

Final thoughts

There is so much to look forward to in the new season. Even with the very welcome distraction of the Euros, it probably just can’t come soon enough. However, with the normal rumour mill around the big names coming to Old Trafford. The chance to re-watch iconic matches with the big names of the last 30 years, there could be just enough to keep you ticking over until things kick off again. Or until the first friendly against Derby, anyway.
