Luke sends message to Manchester United teammates Rashford and Sancho
According to MEN, Luke Shaw had some words of consolation for his Manchester United mates Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. Both the forwards missed their respective spot-kicks as Italy went on to lift the Euro 2020.
England will be hurting and it’s natural. After all, it was their first major final since the World Cup in 1966. It was also their chance to end that huge trophy drought that has gone on for 55 years.
Luke Shaw’s 2nd-minute opener was cancelled out by Leonardo Bonucci’s 67th-minute effort as the tie went to extra time. 30 more minutes couldn’t separate them as penalties took place. England seemed to have run out of some luck there as Rashford, Sancho and Saka failed to convert the last three.
All three players looked distraught as Italy prepared to lift the trophy. Scorer in the final, Shaw spoke out in support of Saka as well as both his Manchester United mates.
“He’s devastated, but the most important thing is for us now as a team to be there for him and give him a big hug. I told him to keep his head up, it happens, anything can happen in a penalty shootout, as a lot of people know. It’s an experience he’ll learn from, he knows that. It’s not just him, though, Rashy and Sanch as well, we’re with them all, we win as a team, we lose as a team, there are no individuals that cost [us] that.”

Shaw was one of the best players of the tournament and played a huge part in England’s climb to the final. It will definitely hurt England to lose after coming so close but they can take pride in how far they came and pushed Italy until the end.
