Transfer News: Manchester United just £12m short of Raphael Varane signing
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are just £12m short of the asking price for Raphael Varane. Real Madrid are said to be needing the cash from this deal as Varane will be a free agent in a year’s time. Varane has also asked to leave the club which should facilitate a deal.
Varane has been the subject of interest from United for a while now. He has now become a world-class star at Real Madrid. Arguably at his peak, Varane has won all possible trophies with Real Madrid and also the World Cup with France.
The Red Devils are in need of a new defender and have identified the French international as a priority signing. With his contract set to expire next summer, United are closing in on his signing. Real Madrid are in a spot and they have conceded that he is likely to leave this season instead of leaving on a free transfer next summer.
Now, Rob Blanchette of Bleacher Report has claimed that United are close to matching the valuation for Varane.
“#MUFC are currently £12m short of Varane’s price, but PSG’s confirmation of Ramos should help the negotiations between United & Madrid to move forward. Real need the cash and don’t want to lose the player on a free. Varane wants to leave. Time to get this done.”

Things are looking up for United in the pursuit of Varane. Of course, £12m is still a decent difference to cover for United. However, Varane can be the addition United have needed all these years and now they are getting close with each passing day.
