Manchester United urged to sign Kalvin Phillips
According to Betfair, former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged the club to sign Kalvin Phillips. The Leeds and England midfielder has impressed heavily in the ongoing Euros. Berbatov expects top clubs to go after him and wants him to sign for United.
Joining Leeds back in 2010, the 25-year-old gradually established himself as one of the mainstays in the midfield over the next few years. During those years, he carved out a reputation for himself as one of the best central midfielders in the second tier.
A promotion to the Premier League made sure his skills were there for the world to take notice. A buff yet finessed midfielder, Phillips is one of those defensive midfielders who can snuff out the opposition as well as ping forward balls with ease. He has taken to the England side like duck to water as they play their first major final in over 50 years.
One of our former icons seems very impressed with Phillips’ performances in the Euros. Dimitar Berbatov feels that a lot of clubs will now come after Phillips and wants him to sign for Manchester United (h/t Betfair).
“He’s been one of the players of the tournament and, sooner or later, I expect him to leave Leeds for a bigger club. Offers will come in for him after the tournament. He is playing with maturity, agility, knowing when to run with the ball and when to pass. I would like to see him sign for Manchester United.”

While Phillips would be a great addition to the midfield, one needs to remember that he plays for one of our historic rivals, Leeds United. His stock will definitely soar if England pull off a win in the final. However, it’s hard to see Leeds selling one of their best players to a rival.
