Adidas join hands with Man United star for ‘Collective Goal’ initiative

Adidas to join forces with Manchester United star Juan Mata for his Collective Goal initiative

According to Manchester Evening News, Global sportswear giants Adidas have joined forces with Manchester United star Juan Mata for his ‘Collective Goal’ initiative.

The 33-year-old co-founded the initiative in 2017. The charitable organisation encourages professional football players, managers and clubs to donate a minimum of 1% of their earnings to support initiatives that make use of football as a driving force to achieve global goals.

Adidas have now entered the fray and have agreed on a long-term partnership with Mata’s organisation. They have pledged 1% of their global net sales from football to Common Goal until 2023.

Mata for his part is very excited by the development and is glad to have the global giants on board. As someone who has been associated with the sportswear giant for a long time, Mata is keen to start this new venture in their relationship.

“I’ve been a part of the Adidas family for many years and with Common Goal from the very beginning, so this collaboration is very special.”

He hopes the partnership will lead to a positive influence in tackling some of the social issues we face in society today. While there is clearly a long way to go, one has to start somewhere.

“This partnership will help us to use football as a force for good and come together to try and tackle social issues as one.”

Everyone is welcome

Mata clearly has his eyes set on bigger and better things for the initiative. He believes traits such as solidarity, empathy and effort can go a long way in understanding and tackling larger issues. Hopefully, with more parties on board, the line of thought will gain a larger audience.

“This is really only the start. For me, team play is the most important thing and through solidarity, empathy and effort, I believe that anyone can reach their goals.”

The United star finally plans to make the initiative an all-inclusive community where everyone is welcome. Hopefully, that day will come sooner than later.

“Our ambition is to make Common Goal the biggest football club in the world, where everyone is welcome.”
