Manchester United pleased with UK government easing COVID regulations
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United are happy with the UK government’s decision to ease COVID curbs ahead of next season.
This relaxation will kick in on July 19 and see fans return to Old Trafford next season. Crowds have either been kept out entirely or allowed in restricted numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the UK in March last year.
Hopefully, the new laws will see the game return to a semblance of normalcy. Having gone through all but one game last season sans fans (in a limited capacity), this new development is most welcome indeed. It ramps up the anticipation ahead of the new campaign that will kick off against Leeds United at Old Trafford on 14th August.
Putting aside the electric atmosphere that accompanies a Leeds-Manchester game, it could also be Jadon Sancho’s first game for the club. Nothing better than a full house at the Theatre of Dreams to drive you on.
As per the statement, United will now work through the details of this announcement, They will take into account any subsequent guidance from the football authorities to amend their plans, stadium regulations and supporter guidance ahead of our pre-season friendlies and the Premier League season.
The club will however not take safety for granted. While the pandemic may have become more controllable, it is still prevalent in many parts of the work. It makes sense to be prepared and lessen the impact of a potential future wave.
The policies in relation to face masks, social distancing, capacities and ticketing will be reviewed and communicated to fans to make attending our games as safe as possible. This will be managed in line with the national guidance.

The upcoming campaign is a big one for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who will now be in his third full season at the club. With what looks like a good summer window, the Norwegian will be under pressure to land silverware. One thing that he will not lack is crowd support.
