Liverpool could battle Manchester United for Kingsley Coman
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t The Daily Star), Liverpool could make a move for Manchester United target Kingsley Coman.
Jurgen Klopp could offer the French winger a new lease of life at Anfield. Coman is unhappy with his playing time at Bayern Munich, while he also has reservations regarding the wages on offer.
The Merseysiders have been touted to make the 25-year-old one of their best-paid players. Coman would earn as much as £200,000-a-week, putting him on the same pedestal as Mohamed Salah and Thiago Alcantara.
Coman is a key player at the Allianz Arena are Bayern is keen to tie him down to fresh terms. However, they have so far been unable to come to an agreement, with the club now calling off negotiations. (h/t The Mirror)
Despite his young age, Coman isn’t just an experienced winger but also a vastly successful one. He has won the league at Paris Saint-German, Juventus and Bayern Munich, not to mention the Champions League and Club World Cup title with the Bavarians.
In fact, Coman has been a part of a side that has won the league ever since he made his first-team bow in 2013. The omens bode well for the teams in the fray to secure his signature this summer.
No lack of playing time
It is perhaps curious that the report mentions Coman’s unhappiness at his playing time. The French ace played in 39 of Bayern’s 50 games last season. He missed six games due to unavoidable circumstances such as injury or being in quarantine, missing out on only five matches all season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Of the five, he was on the bench for four of them. While he may have completed a game just five times, his minutes last season were comparable to Leroy Sane. Given the details, it seems pretty ludicrous to suggest that he has not played enough.
His wage demands however is an issue and it remains to be seen if Liverpool will indeed make a move to land him this summer.

United are closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho, a year after missing out on him. With the Englishman potentially on his way to Old Trafford, it remains to be seen if we are also willing to go big for Coman.
Given that the need of the hour is a dependable centre-back to partner Harry Maguire, going all out for Coman appears unwise.
