Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has shown up those who believe that Daniel James is the fastest man at the club.

The Welshman is known for his blistering pace and is often seen speeding down the right-wing at full throttle. But according to the club’s official site, he lags behind Rashford when it comes to the pace set.

The English ace clocked a season-high speed of 36.26 km/h against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season. This outdid James, who is not even in the top five.

While the difference may not appear close, it runs much deeper than mere numbers. This is because James’ best is only the fifth-highest speed clocked by a United star all season.

Perhaps predictably, it is Rashford who holds the first four spots in the category. This, if anything, cements his spot as the Speedy Gonzalez of the Red Devils squad. Mason Greenwood holds the fifth-highest speed at 35.04 km/h.

Curiously enough, two of these four speeds was achieved against Leeds United. Marcelo Bielsa’s side are known for their high octane football and Rashford, on both occasions this season, rose to the challenge.

The other players who showed off their speed last season were Timo Fosu-Mensah, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw, Brandon Williams, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Elanga. Wan-Bissaka actually came out on top on five occasions but Rashford reigned supreme as the top man in 23 of the games.

One man who could argue in favour of James is Rashford himself. The 23-year-old believes the Welshman would probably beat him in a 100m race. Pace is certainly a major aspect of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and it is good to see the players show off their prowess.
