Transfer News: Arsenal enter race for Manchester United linked Ruben Neves
According to a report by The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Express], Arsenal have taken an interest in signing Ruben Neves, who has recently been linked with Manchester United.
The Portuguese midfielder has had an impressive time at Wolverhampton Wanderers ever since he joined them in 2017. But it now seems that he could be prised away from the Molineux in the summer transfer window.
He made 40 appearances forWolves last season. The 24-year-old also managed to grab 5 goals and an assist in the Premier League, and it seems that he has caught the eye of the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly targeting a rebuild at the Emirates as the club finished the season in a lowly 8th. This includes looking for a new partner alongside the £45m midfielder, Thomas Partey.
Arsenal eye Neves
And Wolves also value Neves around £45m as well. United have a number of midfielders in their ranks and there does not seem to be an urgent need for a new signing in that area.
But Neves is a quality player and his young age means that United could have a midfielder that can stay at the club for a number of years to come. But with Arsenal now in the picture, things could get complicated.
United are yet to win a single trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and finished runners-up in the league as well as UEFA Europa League this season. So, winning a trophy would be of utmost importance for the Norwegian.
