Transfer News: Aston Villa release Tom Heaton ahead of Manchester United move

According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Aston Villa have announced the departure of Tom Heaton who is bound for Manchester United. Villa also confirmed the release of Neil Taylor and Ahmed Elmohamady after their deal end in the summer.

The 35-year-old has been at Villa Park for the last two seasons. With his contract expiring this summer, United will be getting themselves a free transfer.

The Red Devils have already held talks with Heaton this month. The former England international has agreed to rejoin the club and will serve as an understudy to David de Gea and Dean Henderson.

Heaton’s departure confirmed by Villa

Having come through the United academy, Heaton left the club in 2010 without making a single senior appearance. He played a key role in Cardiff City’s run to the League Cup final in 2012 before twice helping Burnley gain promotion to the Premier League.

The move to Manchester United is edging closer now. Aston Villa officially confirmed that the veteran keeper is leaving the club. Taylor and Elmohamady are also said to be departing the club on the expiry of their contracts.
