Man United make a decision on Solskjaer after Europa League failure

Manchester United ready to retain faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to The Mirror (h/t The Express), Manchester United are ready to place their trust in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite the recent setback in the Europa League final.

The Norwegian has just over a year left on his current deal at the club. Despite being at the helm for two and a half years, he is yet to win a single major honour.

Solskjaer had the opportunity to address that against Villarreal on Wednesday. Unfortunately, we fell short on penalties and the wait for silverware goes on.

United however remain undaunted and appear ready to make a new contract offer for the Norwegian. The Glazers believe Solskjaer is the right man for the job and further developments will be made in the coming weeks.

It will come as a relief to a man who is United through and through. With him yet to win any trophies, there is undoubtedly pressure on him to deliver. Hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later.

Having finished second in the Premier League, United have made progress under the Norwegian. Unless he wins a trophy soon, the jury will still be out.

Perhaps given his standing as a club legend, Solskjaer is often handed much leeway when it comes to his standing at the club. He has often shown the bottle to come up short and will need to step up his game in the months to come.

The Norwegian has to share blame for the Europa league fiasco and could have done better. Just what kind of deal United will offer him remains to be seen.
