Manchester United sweat on the fitness of both Fred and Scott McTominay
According to Manchester Evening News, the Manchester United midfield duo of Fred and Scott McTominay have been handed injury concerns following the 1-1 draw at home to Fulham.
10,000 fans were in attendance for the first time at Old Trafford, the first time since March 8, 2020. Edinson Cavani put us in front only for Fulham to equalize late on.
United once again started with Fred and McTominay, who have largely been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preferred choice in midfield. The former player all 90 minutes while the latter was taken off in the 62nd minute.
“We’ve had a couple of players that have got injuries with Scott and Fred, so I’ll see how they are.”

Solskjaer confirmed in the post-match presser that the duo was injured. But he remains hopeful that they will return in time to face Villarreal on the 26th.
“Unfortunately, Scott had to come off and Fred doesn’t look great while he’s walking now but we’ve got eight days, so hopefully everyone will be available that was available today.”
The same goes for striker Anthony Martial, who recently returned to training. While the Frenchman is keen to make the showpiece event, Solskjaer is unsure if that will be the case. However, there remains room for optimism.
“He’s been very enthusiastic, so I can’t say he won’t be fit for the final but. of course, he’s been out for a long time. I’m still hopeful.”

The big fish
While there is cautious optimism regarding the aforementioned trio, the same cannot be said of skipper Harry Maguire. The 28-year-old has not featured for the club since being taken off against Aston Villa earlier this month.
Solskjaer was initially hopeful that the player would make it in time for the Europa League final. He has since gone back on his optimism and has refused to put a return date on Maguire.
