Transfer News: Tottenham eye Manchester United star Anthony Martial to replace Harry Kane
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Manchester United star Anthony Martial as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
The English skipper has asked to leave the club after yet another trophyless campaign. Although Spurs made it to the Carabao Cup final, they failed to get the better of Manchester City, falling short yet again.
Kane for all his individual brilliance is yet to win a single major trophy in his career. Currently in his prime, he is keen to seek his fortunes elsewhere.
There is a sense of acceptance within Tottenham that Kane will be on his way out this summer. Daniel Levy will however be a tough nut to crack and will demand at least £150million for the player.
However, Spurs are working behind the scenes for life after their ace striker. Any deal with United could see them demand Anthony Martial be included as a makeweight.
With money hard to come by, adding Martial as part of the deal could ease the financial burden on United in working out a deal.
Martial has enjoyed a poor season that is a far cry from the impressive showing he put up last time around. With Edinson Cavani extending his stay, swapping Martial for Kane would be an excellent upgrade.
The Frenchman has largely failed to fulfil his potential at United. It may not be too bad of an idea for the club to call time on him if it helps them land Kane.

Whether this is enough to sway Levy’s mind remains to be seen. The Spurs chairman would appear to rather not do business with United if he had a choice.
Levy has since blocked Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from moving to Old Trafford. Whether he will stick to his guns regarding Kane remains to be seen. (h/t The Express)
