Solskjaer and Manchester United board not on the same page regarding Paul Pogba
According to the Mirror, Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are heading towards a collision course regarding the future of Paul Pogba.
The French superstar has just over an year to go on his current deal at Old Trafford. With time running out, United will have to make a decision on his future sooner rather than later.
While Solskjaer is keen to keep him on, the club do have certain reservations about acceding to his demands. It comes as no surprise given Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola’s demands. (h/t Mirror)
One of the biggest agents in the game, Raiola is seeking a lucrative payday that will see Pogba earn more than £400,000-a-week. Meeting it would be a considerable improvement over his £290,000-a-week salary and make him the club’s top earner.
United are keen to explore all options and will not be held to ransom by the player or his agent. The club’s record signing, we will struggle to recoup what we paid for him in 2016.
With the clock winding down, Pogba holds the advantage in negotiations. If an agreement cannot be reached, Unitted are better off selling Pogba this summer. After all, the longer we delay, the closer he edges to leaving on a Bosman next year.
The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping tabs on Pogba’s situation. However, while budgetary constraints could limit the former two, Juventus may not even be in the Champions League next season.
PSG remain the lone club that could afford to pay the 28-year-old what he seeks.
