Transfer News: Manchester United could lose Kerr Smith chase
According to transfer news from The Sun, Manchester United could lose the race for Kerr Smith to Aston Villa. The young Dundee United defender could be heading to Aston Villa for a £500,000 fee in the summer.
The Red Devils have brought in a number of talented young players in recent windows. Smith appears to be the latest youngster on our radar. The 15-year-old has attracted considerable attention from the Premier League. Aston Villa are also keen on securing his signature.
Smith started out as a central midfielder. He has since been converted into a central defender by Dundee’s senior academy head coach Adam Asghar. It proved to be an inspired decision.
Smith has since caught the attention of first-team manager Micky Mellon. He even featured in a friendly against Sheffield United in August. Smith gave a decent account of himself going up against veteran striker Billy Sharp.
The youngster was on trial at United for a week but Aston Villa have moved ahead in the race to sign him. This is because of the general feeling that it would be easier for the player to crack into the first-team at Villa. A reported £500,000 deal is in the works.
