Edinson Cavani pens new contract with Manchester United
According to the official Twitter account of Manchester United, Edinson Cavani has put pen on paper to a new contract at Manchester United. The veteran Uruguayan finally put an end to speculation on his future and will extend his stay at Old Trafford for at another season.
The 34-year-old joined the club last summer on a one-year deal. His performances have, however, left a mark and United were keen to tie him down for another year.
With just weeks left on his current deal, Cavani was heavily linked with a return to South America. Even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has held talks with the player.
The 34-year-old has now scored eight goals from his last seven appearances in all competitions. This has boosted United hopes of finishing second in the Premier League and also securing the Europa League title.
Moreover, he has had a positive influence on the squad off the field as well. If anything, it added to Unitedโs keenness to keep him on for another year.
Nonetheless, United fans can rejoice now as the prolific striker has agreed on new terms to extend his stay at the club for another season until 2022. Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the same.

Cavaniโs stay at the club should be a huge relief given how he has spearheaded the attack in the absence of Martial. While he is not the long-term solution, he can help the club for the next season and allow them to divert their funds on players required in positions such as defence or midfield.
