Bruno Fernandes sends a message to Raphinha amidst Manchester United interest
According to Manchester Evening News, Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to Leeds United ace Raphinha amidst interest from Manchester United.
The 24-year-old has impressed in his first season in the English top-flight with Leeds United so far. He was once again a standout performer as a substitute in their 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Brazilian winger’s performances have not gone unnoticed. United, for one, have been linked with making a move for him in the summer transfer window.
Both Fernandes and Raphinha share a close relationship from their time together at Sporting Lisbon. Despite being together for just the 2018/19 campaign, the duo notched up 39 goals and 23 assists combined. (h/t The Sun)
Speaking to Foot Mercato (h/t The Sun) in 2019, Fernandes admitted that he missed his former teammate. The midfielder described Raphinha as a person whose presence is cherished both on and off the field.
The game against Spurs was Raphinha’s first since an injury layoff. He posted a picture of him on Instagram, only for Fernandes to go and comment ‘I’m a fan’.
Better value for money?
According to the report, it is seen as an indication that the Portuguese maestro would welcome a reunion at United. Given our need for an impactful wide man, we are inclined to agree as well.
United continue to be linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. Former United star Owen Hargreaves, however, believes that Raphinha offers better value for money. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

We feel assertions that Fernandes has sent a ‘join me’ plea to Raphinha is exaggerated. While he may want a reunion, we will wait for something more concrete before getting our hopes up.
After all, there is no love lost between Leeds and United. The last player to move to Old Trafford from Elland Road was Alan Smith in 2004.
