Andreas Pereira may be set to discuss his Manchester United future with Solskjaer
Speaking to TNT Sports Brasil (h/t Sport Witness), Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira has revealed that he might have to sit down and have a chat with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regarding his future at Manchester United.
Currently on loan at Serie A side Lazio, the 25-year-old has largely failed to impress. He has so far scored a solitary goal and made four assists in 30 appearances for the Italian giants. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Lazio has the option of signing the player permanently for €27m at the end of the campaign. As things stand it does not appear as if they will activate the option.
“I’d always like to stay here, I think Lazio are a great club.”
The player himself admits that any chance of him staying at Lazio rests on the Italians themselves. Pereira for his part feels at home at Lazio and is keen to stay put.
“What can I say… Manchester United, they decide. Lazio have the option to buy me from Manchester United. It’s in Lazio’s hands if they really want me to stay here.”
The 25-year-old went on to add that he has remained in constant touch with Solskjaer. The duo will need to have a conversationr egarding the player’s future if a move to Lazio does not materialize.
“I always talk to the Manchester United manager too. And he said that we have to talk too. So it depends a lot on what happens with Lazio, if they decide, they have now until the end of the league to decide. If they don’t decide by then, I think I’ll have to talk to Manchester and see what the option is for me, for Manchester, and to see my future.”
A dream to fulfil!
Pereira has a solitary cap for Brazil at the senior level. It is a far cry from what was expected of him when he won the prestigious Denzel Haroun Reserve team player of the Year in 2015.
Despite being miles away from where he should be, Pereira retains hopes of playing in the World Cup one day. Unless he can establish himself as a regular starter at a decent club, the chances of that happening are very dim.
“I want, as I said, to have a chance to play a World Cup. I think I have to set things right for me so I can start playing for a team so that I feel good and appear more in football.”

Given United’s progress and the players coming through, it is difficult to see where Pereira would fit in at United. It is fair to say that his time at the club could be over and it is time for a fresh challenge.
Pereira has made just 75 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring just four goals and making five assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
