Team News as Manchester United take on AS Roma in the Europa League
According to team news on club’s official site, Manchester United will not take anything for granted despite their healthy lead going into the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals against AS Roma.
The Red Devils won the first leg 6-2 and already have one foot in the final. However, with 90 minutes still to play, what we need is a professional performance that will drive home our advantage.
With the match against Liverpool postponed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have gotten an unexpected reprieve. Hopefully, they will return to the pitch well rested and raring to go.
An object of interest is the team that Solskjaer put out to face Liverpool. Edinson Cavani, our in-form goalscorer, was relegated to the bench, while Mason Greenwood, also in hot form, was in the starting XI.
Another man who could return to the starting XI is goalkeeper David de Gea. The Spaniard has not featured for us in the Premier League since February but started in the first leg last week.
Both Anthony Martial and Phil Jones will miss out through injury. Youngster Amad Diallo could make the trip after he was dropped for the Under-23’s 6-2 win over Derby County.
Meanwhile, Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire scored a brace apiece against Derby. It remains to be seen if either of them will make the trip to the Italian capital.
The other side
Goalkeeper Pau Lopez misses out for Roma after dislocating his shoulder at Old Trafford. Leonardo Spinazzola, Jordan Veretout and Amadou Diawara are all injured.
Defender Gianluca Mancini is available after suspension. Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will hope to start on the night.

Perhaps interestingly, Roma will be managed by former United boss Jose Mourinho in the 2021/22 campaign. The Portuguese manager was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur last month, a week before the club was set to take part in the Carabao Cup final.
Mourinho will not be in the dugout against United. Whether he will be in attendance remains to be seen.
