Luke Shaw set for massive new payday following Manchester United heroics
English international Luke Shaw has been one of the best players at Manchester United this season.
The left-back has found a new lease of life and has upped his game several levels, making himself nigh on impossible to drop. This improvement is not lost on the club, who are now keen to offer him better terms.
The 25-year-old still has two years to go on his £150,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford. According to the Daily Star, United are ready to offer him £190,000-a-week contract, extending his stay at the club until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Shaw’s performances have also caught the attention of Gareth Southgate. The England boss rewarded the defender with an England recall for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
The current upsurge in performances is a remarkable turnaround for a player who looked to have lost his way. Shaw arrived at United in 2014 with a massive reputation but has, until now, struggled to deliver.
He has thrived under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is today a key first-team member. He is seen as a major part of the Norwegian’s plans going forward and the club is keen to see it reflect in an improved wage package.
Just doing what is expected of him!
Shaw’s £150,000 per week wage makes him the ninth-highest earner at United. Interestingly, he is already the second-best paid left-back in the league and comes in joint seventh across all defenders.
With one goal and six assists in 40 appearances, Shaw has done well this season. However, that is the minimum expected of him given his ability and the club’s investment in him.

There is still time on Shaw’s contract for United to make an offer and it would be prudent that we make sure his improvement isn’t a flash in the pan.
While we are all for rewarding players, the club is also well-served if they do not rush into such a decision and let things play out.
