Manchester United to battle Manchester City for Carney Chukwuemeka
According to The Guardian, Manchester United are set to face off against Manchester City for Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 17-year-old midfielder is one of the best young players in the nation and has impressed in the Aston Villa academy. His progress has seen a number of clubs sit up and take notice.
The youngster was an unused substitute in Villa’s Premier League home games against Manchester City and Leicester City this season. While he is yet to make his first-team bow, it could be a matter of when and not if.
Chukwuemeka is held in high regard at Villa. The club’s chief executive Christian Purslow even went as far as to claim that the youngster was the best 16-year-old in the country.
An imposing figure at 6ft, the Villa starlet is an attacking player who possesses excellent technical ability and can glide past opponents.
Chukwuemeka had an excellent opportunity to feature against Liverpool in the FA Cup earlier this season. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so after being caught in the COVID-19 outbreak at the club.
The 17-year-old signed a three year deal with Villa last year. The Villans for their part are keen to keep him on for years to come. City’s interest adds further spice to what could be an almighty tussle for one of the country’s best young talents.
A home for talented youth?
The Red Devils have brought in a number of excellent young players in recent windows. In Chukwuemeka, they have another potential signing who could go on to become a first-team mainstay for years to come.
Villa for their part do not look ready to part ways with their skilled youngster. The Red Devils would appear to have a battle on their hands in order to land the teenage sensation.

Chukwuemeka is a regular for Villa’s Under-23 side and has made 21 appearances for them. During this time, he has scored once and assisted three more.
