Glazers sent six-point plan with which they can restore trust among Manchester United fans
According to Sky News (h/t The Daily Star), Manchester United owners Glazers have been sent a six-point plan that can help them rebuild trust with the supporters.
The club’s role in the formation of the European Super League led to widespread condemnation from both fans and opposition elements alike. Despite withdrawing from the proposal, the Red Devils faithful have accelerated efforts to force the Glazers out of Old Trafford.
It reached a tipping point yesterday when fans barricaded the Carrington training base demanding changes at the top. With trust at an all-time low, serious efforts must be made in order to regain the lost faith.
“If your stated desire to rebuild trust is sincere, these proposals are the minimum steps you should choose to make.”
Lord O’Neill, the architect of the Red Knights campaign which in 2010 attempted to take the club away from the owners, and hedge fund manager Sir Paul Marshall, have written to Joel Glazer, urging the reforms that need to be made.
According to the report, The Glazers have been told to scrap the club’s dual-class share structure on the New York Stock Exchange. This will permit a larger group of investors to consider ownership at the club.
It also urges the Glazers to reduce their stake in the proposed newly created equity to 49.9%. This will motivate more investors to put their money into the club.
Doing the right thing!
Moreover, they expect such a move should be done at a discounted price as they are doing the ‘right thing’.
The Glazers have also been requested to follow the 50+1 ownership model used in Germany to include permission to join any new league or competition and changes in ticket prices. Moreover, they have also been asked to make an annual commitment of £10m per year to Manchester-based charities.
Whether Joel Glazer will consider even a fraction of the demands remains to be seen.

Joel Glazer, in an open letter to the fans, claimed that he is committed to rebuilding trust with the supporters. It is fair to say that there was none to begin with and the American has a long road ahead of him where he needs his actions to do the talking.
