Transfer News: Manchester United to battle Chelsea for Kelechi Iheanacho
According to transfer news from Shoot, Manchester United are among the clubs who are after Kelechi Iheanacho. Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to after the in-form striker from Leicester City as they look to add to their forward options.
A youth product of Manchester City, Iheanacho has been around the English game for a while now. At City, he had to play backup to Sergio Aguero and did not receive much of a chance to show his talent. He then joined Leicester in a big-money move.
However, the same case followed as he had to play second fiddle to Jamie Vardy who is still going strong at that age. Nonetheless, it has all changed this year with Iheanacho being used alongside Vardy. In the last 2 months or so, he has come up with vital contributions for the side.
10 goals in the last 7 games should give you a better idea as to who he is one of the most prolific strikers currently. A hat-trick against Sheffield United was followed by braces against Man United and West Ham. His goals against United and Southampton pushed Leicester into the finals of the FA Cup.
United are keen to add a new striker to their ranks with their current options coming with their own set of problems. Edinson Cavani’s future is still up in the air.
Anthony Martial cannot string together some consistency. Rashford is more suited to playing on the flanks while Greenwood is not yet ready to take up the mantle in the middle.

Manchester United are looking at several targets such as Erling Haaland, Andre Silva and Harry Kane. However, getting even one of them will be a difficult task, not to mention very expensive.
Iheanacho may not be such a huge name like those strikers but rest assured he is a solid Premier League experienced striker. However, United will need to fight off interest from Chelsea as well as Arsenal first.
