Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard injured after scoring yet again for West Ham United
Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard is loving life in London with West Ham United. The 28-year-old has seen his stock rise since joining them on loan in January.
With nine goals and four assists in just 10 games, the Englishman is tearing it up and silencing his detractors. His form has once again seen him return to the England fold ahead of this summer’s Euros.
The latest of the nine goals came yesterday night in West Ham’s shock 3-2 defeat against Newcastle United.
Lingard’s strike came from the spot in the 80th minute. It sparked a remarkable turnaround that saw the Hammers draw level after going down to 10 men and trailing by two goals.
The United loanee was then forced off in the 86th minute just after Newcastle had driven the dagger into West Ham hearts. The game ended 3-2 in the Magpies favour, striking a major blow to the Hammers’ top-four hopes.
According to Manchester Evening News, David Moyes admitted after the game that Lingard’s issue does not appear serious and could just be cramp.
“I think it was just cramp, I have not had a chance to speak to the physio about it but I don’t think it was anything serious, to be honest.”
No favourable treatment!
Moyes went on to add that Lingard is a fit player and is always up to play. Hopefully, the knock isn’t serious and he will return to action soon enough.
“I think the one thing about Jesse, Jesse is a really fit boy. Jesse wants to play.”
The Hammers boss has also dismissed the notion that Lingard would be afforded special treatment. He will be held at the same standards that Moyes seeks from any of his other players.
“He won’t get any favoured treatment – certainly not for a Scotsman going into the Euros this year.”

Given his recent standards, Lingard’s performances yesterday were lacking in the x-factor. Moyes too went on to admit that the 28-year-old was comparatively quiet on the night.
