Manchester United to offer a trial to Scottish wonderkid Ethan Laidlaw

According to Daily Mail (h/t Teamtalk), Manchester United are set to make a move for Hibernian youngster Ethan Laidlaw.

The 16-year-old has progressed quickly through the ranks from being a ball boy to signing professional terms with the Scottish side. His rise has now gone unnoticed with a number of clubs keeping tabs on his progress.

Leeds United are one of the teams keen on the youngster with him already undergoing a trial at Elland Road. United are keen to follow a similar path.

United will offer the youngster a chance to impress on loan before making him an offer. Hibernian for their part are not keen to cash in on their prized asset.

The youngster was on the bench last weekend as the Scots took on SPL champions Rangers. But he did not play and remained an unused substitute.

With them set to take on League Two side Stranraer in the Scottish Cup this Sunday, it remains to be seen if Laidlaw will make his professional bow. Given his potential, it would not come as a complete surprise to see scouts from interested parties in the stands.
