Manchester United have met with Mino Raiola regarding Erling Haaland transfer
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Express), Manchester United have met with superagent Mino Riola regarding a move for Erling Haaland.
The Borussia Dortmund star is United’s top target for the summer. However, the Red Devils will have to contend with competition from Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
With Anthony Martial failing to impress and Edinson Cavani possibly on his way out, United are in dire need of a new striker. Their pursuit for Haaland is not related to what happens in Cavani’s case.
It was previously reported that United had refused to meet with Raiola when the superagent jetted into England to meet with prospective clubs. But that does not appear to be the case.
It has now been revealed that talks have taken place with the player’s father Alf-Inge Haaland also a part of the proceedings.
Despite meeting with United, Haaland’s move to Old Trafford is far from a sure thing. One factor that could work in our favour is that Haaland spent time under Solskjaer earlier in his career at Molde.
Champions League a factor?
Dortmund are struggling to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The Germans crashed out of the competition earlier this week and are also tracking Eintracht Frankfurt by seven points with eight games to go.
United meanwhile look set to return to Europe’s top competition and can offer Haaland an opportunity to compete against the best. Whether it is something that can swing the competition in our favour remains to be seen.
