Manchester United star Paul Pogba opens up on key difference between Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United star Paul Pogba has so far played in red under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Given his run-ins with the former, the Frenchman is well placed to outline the key difference between both of their styles.
According to Sky Sports, the Frenchman has gone on to reveal that the major difference lies in the duo’s man management. While Mourinho is more volatile in nature, Solskjaer is anything but.
“What I have now with Ole is different, he wouldn’t go against the players.”
Brought back to United by Mourinho, the 28-year-old played a key role in our cup double in 2016/17. The duo’s relationship quickly soured and it became the source of much negative press.
A significant moment occurred in 2018 where Pogba and Mourinho had an altercation during training.
While some sources attribute it to being staged, it does not shed a positive light on the club. Pogba was also stripped of the vice-captaincy prior to the incident.
“Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don’t know.”
While Solskjaer is not without his own biases, he does not leave any player for dead. There have been occasions when he has forced players to sit on the bench, but nowhere has he treated them like they meant lesser.
A people-centric manager?
Mourinho’s final days at the club was a cornucopia of negativity that permeated a feeling of negativity around the playing squad.
“Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.”
Solskjaer’s people-centric approach has garnered him the support of Pogba who believes the approach is more effective. While he may have his detractors, there is little doubt that the Norwegian has steadied the ship left rocking by his predecessor.

Another player who struggled under Mourinho was Luke Shaw. The full-back was cruelly sidelined but has now found new lease of life under Solskjaer.
Mourinho may be one of the greatest managers to grace the game. However, his techniques have found him few supporters at Old Trafford.
