Manchester United keen to take advantage of West Ham’s stance in Jesse Lingard negotiations
According to The Express, Manchester United hold the advantage in the negotiations for Jesse Lingard, who is currently impressing out on loan.
The 28-year-old put in yet another commanding performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers as West Ham United continues to push for a top-four spot.
He grabbed a goal and an assist and was largely impressive as David Moyes side took all three points to leapfrog Chelsea to fourth spot.
Lingard has now scored six goals and made four assists in just eight games for the Hammers. His performances have left them impressed and West Ham are keen to do ‘what it takes’ to land the player permanently.
This will be good news for United who will now look to drive up the asking price. The sudden turnaround in form combined with an England recall has boosted Lingard’s value ahead of the summer transfer window.
The player looked to be lost in the abyss back in January. He has more than enhanced his reputation since leaving on loan.
Make hay while the sun shines
Lingard’s contract at United expires in 2022. His stock has never been higher and the club now have an opportunity to cash in on him this summer. It can be argued that it is now or never for United.
While bringing him back is an option, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has so far failed to get the best out of the player at United. It would be in everyone’s best interests that the player is allowed to move on.
It was reported earlier this week that the Red Devils are keen to net £40m for Lingard. Obtaining anything close to that fee would be incredible business and will boost our transfer kitty as well.
