Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backs Mason Greenwood to come good for Manchester United
Mason Greenwood was the man of the hour as Manchester United stepped up the style in the second half to complete a come from behind win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Red Devils started brightly but a Danny Welbeck header saw them fall behind and cede control for the first half. Whatever was said at half-time did the trick as United came out a better team after the break.
Marcus Rashford latched onto a pass from Bruno Fernandes to draw us level before Greenwood diverted Paul Pogba’s mishit strike into the goal for the winner.
It was the youngster’s second Premier League goal of the season but could prove pivotal in the race for the second spot. Greenwood has failed to match the numbers he achieved last season but Solskjaer remains adamant that the goals will come. (h/t Express)
“Mason needs to add those goals to his tally. We know how wonderful a talent he is. He played really well tonight and when he can add those goals, we know he’ll really be a goodun.”
Solskjaer recently revealed that Greenwood is the best finisher at the club. The youngster showed just that in the way he took the winner on the night. His awareness was on point as he reacted quickly to divert Pogba’s shot past a hapless Robert Sanchez and Ben White.

Solskjaer also praised Greenwood’s movement and attributed it to the lessons he has received from Edinson Cavani.
“Mason’s learning from Edi.”
Cavani’s future is still in the air as speculation regarding his departure continues. Solskjaer is glad to have the Uruguayan and is keen for Greenwood to learn as much as he can from the 34-year-old.
“It’s important when Edinson is here now. He’s not going to play football forever but the trait of that movement, Mason’s probably picked up a little bit.”

The strike was Greenwood’s first Premier League goal since 5 December, 19 matches ago. It was a good performance from the 19-year-old who also impressed with his presence of mind and movement.
The goal will have hopefully given him more confidence as we go into the final few weeks of the season. Greenwood will hopefully step up his game and play a bigger role in our victories to come.
