Transfer News: Donny van de Beek linked with exit as Manchester United line up replacement
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are already making contingency plans for the future of Donny van de Beek. Transfer chief Matt Judge has already lined up a potential move for Nicolo Zaniolo if Van de Beek ends up moving to Borussia Dortmund.
Van de Beek has been on the fringes of Manchester United since his arrival from Ajax at the start of the season. The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford as one of the rising young players in Eredivisie, playing a substantial role at Ajax in their 2019 Champions League campaign.
Nonetheless, he has found game time hard to come by, with just two starts and 11 substitute appearances in the league. He has been afforded more minutes in the cup competitions though. With competition for places high, Van de Beek has not been able to oust any of the first-choice midfielders.
Now, it has been said that Borussia Dortmund could be open to a deal for the player and some cash in return for Erling Haaland, a player who United have wanted for so long. Add to that, the Red Devils can secure a deal for Zaniolo.

On the up, this complicated deal looks like a huge win-win for United but pulling it off will be another headache.
Zaniolo does look like a better fit for the side given his abilities in the final third. While it would be premature to give up on Van de Beek, it’s just that he is so very unsuited to United’s style of play.
