Paul Scholes say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves a new Manchester United contract
According to news from Daily Mail, Paul Scholes thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves a new contract at Manchester United. With the boss soon to sign a new contract at the club, Scholes felt that he deserved it but needs to win a trophy soon.
Solskjaer has done a good job this season despite what others may say. United are second in the league and are also scheduled to play in the Europa League quarter-finals this month.
Yes, there have been some lows such as the cup exits but overall, he has done a very good job with the players available to him.
One of the biggest sticking points about his tenure so far has been the lack of trophies, with Solskjaer losing 4 semi-finals and a quarter-final. United are on a barren run since 2017 when we last won a trophy.
With Solskjaer’s current deal set to end in 2022, talks were in place regarding a new deal and Scholes spoke about the same.
‘I think he probably deserves it. There’s been progress from the manager before [Jose Mourinho]. I think the team looks a lot more exciting, there are goals in the team, which you would expect from a United team anyway.
I think the only problem is: winning something. Losing four semi-finals is a little bit of a worry and losing that quarter-final to Leicester [in the FA Cup], it wasn’t good for fans especially.’

The former United midfielder does have a point. Solskjaer does deserve the new deal for all the work he has put together. United are already 12 points better off than last season and are still in contention for the Europa League. However, winning that will have to be a priority.
