Dimitar Berbatov feels Jesse Lingard should remain at West Ham
According to Football.london, Dimitar Berbatov feels that Jesse Lingard should remain at West Ham. The Englishman recently returned to the England squad and is currently on fiery form at West Brom.
Lingard had fallen way down the pecking order at Manchester United ad had found opportunities hard to come by since the lockdown last year. Having failed to play regularly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the versatile midfielder moved to West Ham on loan this past January.
Since joining the east London outfit, Lingard has absolutely thrived, banging in five goals and three assists from just seven Premier League matches. In the process, he has helped West Ham sustain their push for a top-four finish.
Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov feels that it would be in Lingard’s best interests to seek a permanent move to West Ham in the summer.
“Jesse Lingard is on loan at West Ham at the moment and I’m unsure of what the end of the season will bring.
It’s complicated with him, I wouldn’t be surprised if United gave him a chance again during the pre-season, to see if he can fit into the system and prove himself or he may want to stay at West Ham because he is doing well there, you can tell he is happy and for a player you don’t want to lose that momentum and confidence.”

Having been deprived of opportunities at Manchester United, Lingard has been thriving at the London Stadium under David Moyes. Considering that he doesn’t seem to feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term plans, a permanent transfer may well be the best outcome for all parties involved.
